Our Veterinary Team
Principle Veterinary Surgeon
I took over the running of Spring Lodge Vets in 1992 and started a series of improvements that lead to the Witham Centre gaining its RCVS Tier 3 Hospital status.
I mainly work at the Witham hospital but also at our newest centre in Ingatestone.
I believe in providing a personal and friendly service to all of our clients and their animals.
I qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 1996 in South Africa and worked there until 1998. I came to the UK in 1999 working as a small animal vet and I joined Spring Lodge as a part-time vet in 2007.
My particular interest is for surgical cases and I am usually found in one of the surgical suites at the Witham Hospital. I also help operate at the Chelmsford Centre when required.
I graduated with Honours from the Royal Veterinary College in 2008. I worked in Suffolk for the first part of my career and obtained my ESVPS certificate in Small Animal Surgery.
I then joined the Spring Lodge team in July 2014. My main interest is soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery and I spend most of my mornings operating at our Witham hospital.
My evenings are split between Witham and our Tiptree branch. My spare time is limited as I am currently working towards a second level certificate, but I do enjoy walking my little dog Arthur.
I started working at Spring Lodge in 2003 as a Kennel Assistant and continued to work while I studied for my GCSEs and A-Levels.
I was very lucky to gain the grades required to start my Veterinary Degree at the Royal Veterinary College and graduated as a Vet in 2011.
I rejoined the practice in 2012 and now enjoy all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery, especially dealing with the rabbits and small furries.
At home I have 23 rabbits, 3 cats and a Spitz called Dorothy and Pug called Gru.
Cristina Herrera Lavin
I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2005 and joined Spring Lodge in October 2008.
Initially the main vet at our Tiptree branch, I now enjoy the responsibility of running the Witham hospital wards caring for post surgical and hospitalised patients.
I have a keen interest in both surgery and emergency medicine and hold the ESPVS Certificate in Emergency Medicine and Surgery. I am currently working towards a second Level Certificate which keeps me very busy.
Any spare time is taken up being attacked by my very over zealous cat that I rehomed from Spring Lodge!
I graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2016 and have been at Spring Lodge since I graduated. I spend most of my time split between the Witham and our Tiptree branch.
My main interests are surgery and orthopaedics so hope to study in the future for certificates in these fields.
At home I spend most of my time with my cat Fitz and dog Larry!
